Mark Leslie Birtwistle ( born October 17, 1962 in Auckland) is a Samoan rugby player of New Zealand descent who played in the position of a castle.

Family
Father - New Zealand rugby player Bill Burtislis [1] , who played in the three-quarter position for the Waikato team from the province of the same name and played in the New Zealand team in 1967 during a tour of the UK, France and Canada.
The son is Samoan rugby player Boden Friedrich Bertoislis, who played for the national team up to 20 years as a drawn forward and for the club “County Manacau” [2] [3] . Boden became a defendant when, at a party in Mount Alberta in November 2014, he had a fight with a man and broke his jaw. The court closed the case after reconciliation of the parties [4] .
Game career
Known for speaking at professional level for clubs in various New Zealand provinces: Auckland, Wellington and County Manickau. In 1991, he played at the Rugby World Cup, having a debut meeting on October 6 in Cardiff against Wales , which ended in a sensational Samoan victory with a score of 16:13 [1] . The last game was played on November 12, 1996 at the Dublin Lansdown Road Stadium against Ireland . In 11 test matches for the national team, he did not score points [5] . Member of a 1994 Australia tour.
After completing his career, he worked for some time as a trainer for the Saberbs club [6] . In 2009, he served as a striker coach at the headquarters of the New Zealand Sam Zoa Samoan team at the Three Nations Tournament in Apia [7] . He currently collaborates with the Saberbs Old Boys team [8] .
