Semyon Abramovich Magaziner (1886-1940) - Russian and Soviet photographer and photojournalist [1] . A full-time photojournalist for the Smena, Leninsky Sparks, Koster magazine, OGIZ publishing houses, Detizdat, and others.
As noted by journalist N. Mikhailovsky, in 1912, Magaziner was the first to carry out aerial photography of St. Petersburg [2] .
In addition to reporting photographs depicting the daily life of Leningrad, he made a number of photo portraits of scientists (N. Vavilova, I. Pavlova) and writers (M. Zoshchenko, Yu. Olesha, etc.). He depicted the process of drying museum exhibits after the Leningrad flood of 1924.
Soft light, which gives the image additional volume, a harmoniously built composition, the chamber atmosphere of many pictures taken by the Shoper, give the viewer a sense of ownership of what is happening and are the hallmarks of the author's style [3] .
