Biography

Born October 22 ( November 4 ), 1911 in St. Petersburg, in the family of a military topographer V. M. Nikiforov (1873-1934) and Varvara Pavlovna (1875-1964).

Education

She studied at school 17 in Moscow.

In 1930-1934, she studied at the Moscow Polytechnic Institute , specialty "Searches and filming."

In 1939-1941 she studied at the graduate school of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, under the guidance of Professor G.F. Mirchink .

Scientific work

In 1930-1935 she worked on expeditions as a collector, senior collector, foreman and geologist Spetsgeo.

Since September 1935, she worked at the Ign. Academy of Sciences of the USSR , in the Quaternary Geology Department, as a junior researcher, graduate student, senior researcher (from June 1941, Certificate of June 23, 1943.) [1] .

Since August 1941, he was the head of the detachment of the Ural Diamond Expedition of the Committee on Geology at the USSR SNK.

In April 1943 she returned to the Ign., Academy of Sciences of the USSR, worked as a scientific secretary (December 1944 - March 1946).

On June 16, 1941 she defended her thesis on “Continental Meso-Cenozoic deposits of the eastern slope of the southern Urals and their position among placers” (265 pages and 16 pages. References, 30 photographs, 10 geological profiles) [2] .

On July 2, 1960 she defended her doctoral dissertation [3] .

Since 1962, together with A. I. Moskvitin , she directed the scientific theme: Synchronism and metachronism of climatic fluctuations and glaciation of the northern plusharia "

Since 1970 - Head of the Laboratory of Geology and History of the Quaternary Period of the USSR Academy of Sciences , re-elected in 1976 and 1981.

Since May 19, 1971, she was approved as a professor in the specialty "geology".

In the 1980s, in the framework of the program “Global changes and correlation of events: chronostratigraphy and paleogeography of the Late Neogene and Anthropogen”, the Laboratory of the Micropaleontological Group (Pliocene-Quaternary microfauna and microflora) was created on its initiative [4] .

In 1980, the title Honored Scientist of the RSFSR was introduced, in 1980 the application was supported by the Academic Councils: GIN AN USSR, Institute of Paleobiologists named after L. Sh. Davitashvili, Academy of Sciences of the GSSR, Institute of Geochemistry and Geophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, Institute of Geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR, Geological Department of the Moscow State University , Department of Paleontology and Biostratigraphy of the Academy of Sciences of the Moldavian SSR, Institute of Geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Estonian SSR, Institute of Geology of the Bashkir Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, VSEGEI , as well as the Moscow City Committee trade union of educators, higher schools and scientific institutions.

Chairman of the working group of the project “Neogene and Quarter boundary” of the International program of geological correlation.

Member of the Bureau of the Organizing Committee of the 11th Congress of INQUA (   Moscow , 1982).

In 1986 she retired, and transferred to the position of senior research assistant consultant. From 1988 to December 30, 1989 - consultant in the laboratory of the Quaternary period of the USSR Academy of Sciences. She worked on the topic “Global changes and correlation of events, chronostratigraphy and paleogeography of the late Neogene and anthropogen”.

She died on August 29, 1996 in Moscow, was buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery [5] [6] .

Husband - Rozanov, Peter Mikhailovich (born 1905) - a hydrogeologist.
