Sainfoin glass-beetle [1] ( lat. Bembecia scopigera ) is a species of butterflies of the genus Bembecia from the family of glass- makers ( Sesiidae ).

Distribution
Western Palearctic . Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic, Slovakia, the European part of Russia (east to the Volgograd region), Crimea, Turkey [2] [3] .
Description
Wingspan from 19 to 29 mm. Females differ from closely related species in dorsal black antennae (with metallic luster), with a small yellow-orange or orange subapical spot; first and second abdominal sternitis black laterally; fore coxae brownish black. Fore and hind tibia of males are yellowish-orange. Wings are transparent (without scales). Outwardly similar to wasps (the main color is black with yellow or whitish marks). The proboscis is short, reduced. Lepidoptera flying in the afternoon, adults are observed in the summer. Caterpillars feed on the roots of grasses and shrubs of legumes . The species was first described in 1763, and its valid status was confirmed in an audit conducted in 2018 by Russian lepidopterologists O.G. Gorbunov ( A.N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Moscow ) and K.A. Efetov ( Crimean Federal University named after V.I. Vernadsky , Simferopol ) [2] [3] [4] .
