Domaine dujac

Domaine Dujac is a producer of Burgundy wines, the estate is managed by the Sei family. The founder, Jacques Sey, is still involved in the management of the estate. His sons, Jeremy and Alec, and his wife, Diana, ran the estate until the release of two last vintages. [1] Jacques founded the estate in 1967, and produced the first wine in 1969. Until 1999, all wines were made from one type of grape and aged in new oak barrels. [2]

The assets of the estate were 4.5 hectares (11 acres) in Morey-Saint-Denis. Later, Jacques bought land in Échezeaux, Bonnes Mares Chambertin, Romanée St. Vivant and Vosné-Romanée 1er Cru Malconsorts. Dudjaki bought approximately 1.95 hectares (4.8 acres), or 6 plots in Clos de la Roche with an average age of 45–50 years of vines. In addition, they have 1.45 hectares (3.6 acres), or 2 sites in Clos Saint-Denis with an average age of 45–50 years of vines. [3]

History

The estate was founded in 1967 by Jacques Sey, the son of a rich baker, who bought 4.5 hectares (11 acres) of vineyards from Domaine Marcel Graillet. Prior to that, Sei studied winemaking and enology in the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or. Since Graillet was a poor estate that mainly sold Vinhrad, it became necessary to find a customer base, in the process of upgrading the winery. Not a single boutique was sold until 1969, when the first, first wine was bottled; it was sold mainly in restaurants, through the contacts of Father Jacques. The estate expanded, including land in Echézeaux and Bonnes-Mares. The estate continued to expand its assets by purchasing vineyards, thereby increasing the total area to 11.5 hectares (28 acres). [four]

The estate began to use organic production methods in one-third of its vineyards in 2001 as an experiment, in order to understand whether it would be possible to use technology for the entire estate. The whole estate switched to organic production methods in 2008. [five]

In 2005, the estate divided the purchase of vineyards from Domaine Charles Thomas with the owners of Château de Puligny-Montrachet, thus occupying the lands of Romané-Saint-Vivant, Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, Les Beaumonts and part of Vosne-Romanée, Les Malconsorts.
