Joel Gibb is a Canadian musician, artist, vocalist and guitarist for the indie pop band The Hidden Cameras . He was born on January 28, 1977 in Kinkardine, Ontario in Canada .

Gibb's first participation in the music scene was the editor of a fanzine dedicated to independent groups, the Glamor Guide for Trash [2] . He also hosted college radio shows on CFRE-FM in Mississauga, Ontario. [3] At the same time, he wrote his own songs. In 2001, released several recordings under the name The Hidden Cameras [4] on his independent label EvilEvil . Then, Gibb scored a lot of musicians and The Hidden Cameras grew into a group (choir) and the guys started performing everywhere where the musicians are allowed. Along the way, the group included up to thirteen members, including the string section, choral and go-go dancers, while the audience grew at the same time.
In 2003, The Hidden Cameras signed with Rough Trade Records , a well-known British record label, which released their next album , The Smell Of Our Own, in the same year.
They began actively touring North America and Europe. In 2004, the album “Mississauga Goddam” was released, followed by the album “The Arms of His„ Ill “” on Absolutely Kosher Records . Awoo was released in 2006 by Rough Trade Records, EvilEvil and Arts & Crafts , and Origin: Orphan's fifth studio album was released on September 22, 2009 via Arts & Crafts. All releases of The Hidden Cameras to date have been produced by Joel Gibb. In 2007, Gibb's solo recordings were released in honor of Arthur Russell’s EP Four Songs by Arthur Russell . January 21, 2014 released the sixth studio album The Hidden Cameras - "Age" . October 28, 2016 released the last album at the moment - “Home On Native Land” .
Gibb exhibits his work in various galleries and has been featured in group exhibitions in the past at Tate Modern, among others. His work includes drawings and banners, which are presented on CDs and recordings of The Hidden Cameras. He also shows the videos that he made for The Hidden Cameras. In 2007, Joel Gibb made his debut at the New York Gallery on Sunday in Los Angeles (now the Horton Gallery ).
In 2008, Joel Gibb made his debut as one of the stars of the movie “Generation of Candy Canes,” directed by artist G. B. Jones . The film also uses The Hidden Cameras music.
Gibb participated in REM's album “Collapse Into Now” with backing vocals on the track “It Happened Today” .
Joel Gibb currently lives in Berlin .
