Pasadena or Pasadena ( English Pasadena [ˌpæsəˈdiːnə)] ) is a California city in Los Angeles County , a suburb of Los Angeles , located 19 km southwest of Pasadena. The main center of the San Gabriel Valley , located at the foot of the mountain range of the same name, next to the National Forest.

History
In 1771, Pasadena was part of the lands of the Catholic mission of the archangel Gabriel , which gave the name to the valley and mountains. In 1834, the Mexican governor allocated a part of the mission called the San Pascual ranch for the use of a retired officer, Juan Marina.
The settlement was founded in 1874 by Thomas Elliot of Indiana. The name of the city translated from the Ojibwe language means "crown of the valley." The village has transformed from a focus of citrus plantations into a popular winter resort after the construction .
Population
Pasadena is the sixth largest city in the county. According to the 2000 census, the city’s population was 133,936 (160th place among US cities). The California Department of the Treasury estimates that the city’s population was 146,166 in 2005.
Science and Education
Pasadena is one of the main educational centers of the Pacific coast : the California Institute of Technology is located here. Near the city there is a NASA research laboratory - Jet Propulsion Laboratory . The production of high-precision equipment, which is used in electronics and aviation, has been developed.
In addition to the university, there are three colleges in Pasadena - Pasadena City College (1924), Pacific Oaks College (1945) and Art Center College of Design (1930).
Attractions
In the center of Pasadena, many mansions of the beginning of the XX century, marked by the influence of the arts and crafts movement, have been preserved. The pompous town hall built in 1927 is considered the unofficial symbol of the city. Among other structures, the Colorado Street Bridge , built in 1913, is famous.

- The Norton Simon Museum , the former Pasadena Art Museum, is one of the largest collections of European art in the western United States; Among the masterpieces of the collection is the Pasadena Madonna by Raphael .

Sport
During the parade of roses, on the first day of the New Year, a legendary event in the world of American football is held - a match between the best student teams for the Pink Cup. The first game took place on January 1, 1902. Since 1922, the match has been held within the walls of the Rose Bowl Arena.
In 1994, the Rose Bowl Stadium hosted matches of the World Cup , including the semi-finals, the match for 3rd place and the final .

- Pasadena is an American television series of the year 2001 on Fox, the show was removed from the air after showing five episodes and was shown in the United States completely only in 2005.

The song “ Maywood ” “Pasadena”, performed in the style of the Mexican samba, is the hallmark of the group.
