Already his first work “ Fauna Insectorum Fridrichsdalina” ( 1764 ), concluding the definition of 858 species of insects , Müller attracted attention not only at home, but also abroad.
Muller left a whole literature of systematically processed scholarly works .
Of these, the most issued are:
- work on ciliates " Vermium terrestrium et fluviatilium historia " ( 1773 );
- the grandiose work "Zoologia Danica" ( 1779 );
- “Zoologia Danica prodromus” (begun as early as 1776 ), which includes a complete listing in a systematic order of all previously known species of Danish and Norwegian fauna;
- a wonderful article about worms , published in the journal of the Danish scientific society ( Videnskabernes Selskab ); released a year before Mueller’s death
- the capital work Entomostraca seu Insecta testacca , in which Müller brought the systematics to the point at which it remained for the next 40 years;
- one year after Mueller’s death, his last work, Ammalcula infusoria, came out with illustrations .
In 1775-1782 he published Flora Danica .
Zoologiae Danicae Prodromus was the first systematic publication on Danish and Norwegian zoology , and for many years - the most comprehensive. This work was planned as the beginning of a large review of the fauna , but before his death, Müller managed to release only one volume . The following volumes (publication of which was continued in 1806), which were being prepared for publication, among others by Søren Abildgaard and Martin Heinrich Ratke , did not reach the level of Flora Danica by Georg Christian Oder ( German: Georg Christian Oeder ).
The Muller plant genus ( Muellera Lf ) of the legume family ( Fabaceae ) is named after Müller .
