Biography

Born March 3, 1948 in the city of Vyksa, Gorky Region. He graduated in 1975 from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys with a degree in metallurgical engineering . He went from master to chairman of the trade union committee of Vyksa Metallurgical Plant. In 1990, the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU .

In 1986-1990 - First Secretary of the May Day District Committee of the Communist Party of the city of Gorky.

Since 1991 - Head of the Administration of Vyksa.

In 1994, he was elected first deputy, and then chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region. In 1998, he was re-elected.

From November 2001 to April 2002, he was a representative of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

On April 15, 2002 he was appointed Chief Federal Inspector for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

On December 7, 2003 he was elected to the State Duma of the fourth convocation, a member of the United Russia faction.
