Kamuraska is a municipality on the south bank of the St. Lawrence River in the Baie Saint Laurent region of Quebec , Canada. Included in the municipality of Kamuraska. Included in the Association of the most beautiful villages of Quebec, in the rating of which is included in the top twenty.
The name "Kamouraska" comes from the Algonquian word, meaning "where reeds grow on the edge of the water"

History
The area was first inhabited at the end of the 17th century. In 1674, it was Señoria Kamouraska , the administrative unit of the Government of Quebec (Fr.) . In this area there is a long tradition of eel fishing, and in the village there is an exhibition center for eel fishing.
Geography
Along the river there are salt marshes, and an ecological reserve is located next to the village. Birds nest in the swamp and live on it during the flights. The cliffs along the river serve as nesting grounds for peregrine falcons , cormorants and blue herons. Sometimes in the river you can see seals . At certain times of the year, mosquitoes in local marshes can be especially aggressive.
The village can be reached via highway 20. Highway 132 runs through the village.
The murder of Louis-Pascal-Achilles Tache in 1839 served as the plot for the novel "Kamuraska" by Anna Hebert (1970), according to which in 1973 Claude Zhutra put on the same film.
