Biography

Alexander Alekseevich Pobozhy was born in the village of Krutikh of the Tomsk province (now the village of Krutikh of the Krutikhinsky district of the Altai Territory ) on April 22, 1914 in a peasant family.

He graduated from the Novosibirsk Land Management Technical School and the Moscow Institute of Transportation Engineers . In the 1930s, conducted surveys for railways in Siberia , the Far East , in Mongolia . During these years he built the Moscow metro , participated in the first surveys on the BAM , in 1942 built the Volga Rokadu Stalingrad - Saratov . Alexander Alekseevich recalled:

Laying the road from Ilovli station began in mid-February 1942 ... Military construction units formed in the Far East, connected to the construction administration, began to arrive in Saratov , Kamyshin and Balzer . They carried with them the most necessary, albeit extremely primitive technique (up to wheelbarrows, axes and shovels), which was not here at all, and most importantly - rails with fasteners, a certain number of bridge trusses removed from the BAM sections Urgal - Izvestkovaya and BAM -Tynda, as well as coils of wires, communication devices and much more. All this was moving forward to us from the Far East on the rights and at the speed of the following military echelons to the front [1] .

For the half a year, all the necessary surveys were carried out, the railway line of the railway was designed and built from scratch.

On the 7th of August, from the Ilovlya station, through the new junction station Petrov Val, near Kamyshin , the trains went along the Volga Rokade - Stalingrad got a connection to the country's railway network. By that time, all the other roads to Stalingrad from the west were cut. On the new building poured rolling stock from the south. In August and September 1942, along our line, we managed to transfer to the north 23,000 wagons with the most valuable equipment and 480 locomotives. If it were not for the rocade, the entire rolling stock with cargo from the Stalingrad area - Gumrak would have been broken by German aircraft or destroyed by us, so as not to give to the enemy. Along the same road to Stalingrad and the Don brought up troops, ammunition and military equipment [2] .

Later, during the war, Alexander Alekseevich conducted surveys of the taiga route Salekhard - Igarka , railways Komsomolsk-on-Amur - Sovetskaya Gavan , Taishet - Lena , Tyumen - Surgut .

During the Great Patriotic War, he saved two American pilots, shot down by the Japanese over the taiga and thrown out with parachutes, from certain death. After a long search, the pilots found in the most distressed. Pious and his comrades provided the necessary assistance to the victims and took them to the hospital. Many years later, after the end of the Cold War , this story gained fame through publication in the media [3] .

In 1945 he was sent to design a coal mine in Novoraichikhinsk .

Much of the life of A. A. Pobos is associated with the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline . Twice he was engaged in laying the Bam road: in the thirties (1938) he led the Olekminsky expedition, which conducted research (Charskaya Valley, Tyndinsky village) and in the late 60-70s. (in fact, all the work was carried out anew, since the old highway entered the flood zone due to the construction of the Zeya hydroelectric station ).

Alexander the Pobogiy in the highest instances proved the incorrectness of the linking of BAM to the dam of the Zeya hydroelectric station and pushed the road tens of kilometers north of Zeya . He, abruptly turning the road to the south, reduced bypassing the reservoir, which resulted in savings of millions of rubles [4] . Pious always looked at dozens of years ahead.

"This is the most difficult track in my life," said Alexander Alekseevich. - Here, almost all of its length, the permafrost. In the valleys under mossy mary - ice lenses. There are no paths or roads; rivers, ridges and huge taiga spaces. The future railway is being put together in parts, like a book by chapters. Errors in our work are unacceptable - they cost the state dearly. Surveyors tie to the site not only roads, but also future villages, stations, cities ” [5] .

The path to Baikonur also sought out the Pious [6] . He also found a place for the construction of the airport in Tynda [7] .

In recent years, led the expedition "Mosgiprotransa" at BAM.

He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor , medals "For the Defense of Stalingrad" , "For Victory over Germany" and many others.

Alexander the Pious has died on June 10, 1978.

He was buried in the city of Pushkino, Moscow region .

Literary creativity

Reprinted since 1959 (the documentary story "We go to you!").

The works of Pogozha were published in central and regional periodicals: the newspapers Gudok and Sovetskaya Rossiya ; magazines "Banner" , "Young Guard" , "New World" , "Far East" , the almanac "My Amur" ("Second Way to the Ocean", 1974; Far Eastern Rails near Stalingrad. On the construction of the Volga Rokada, 1977), in newspapers “Pacific Star” , “Amurskaya Pravda” .

Alexander Alekseevich possessed an amazing gift of the narrator, listening to his memories and arguments about life, people calmed down, being enchanted. His essay "Deaf, Unknown Taiga" in 1961 was published in the journal "New World" and was highly appreciated by the chief editor Alexander Tvardovsky [8] .

The artistic vision of the author is combined with an accurate statement of the facts of real events. Lyrics texts are autobiographical, although he writes little about himself, his author's "I" rather indicates the place and circumstances of events. His texts are documentary, accurate statement of the facts, a detailed description of the technical side of the survey. He writes a lot about the love of the Far Eastern region, its unique nature, about the people of BAM, about the life and customs of the indigenous peoples of the North.

In 1971, the first book of A. A. of Pobozha appeared - “The Path of the Surveyor”, then - “The Roads of Taiga” (1972), which describe in detail the history of the exploration and construction of BAM; He is the author of the Dead Road (1964), “Under the Sky of Mongolia” (1967). The book "Through the Northern Wilderness" (1978) was published a few months after the death of A. A. of the Poboja.

A. A. The Pious entered the Union of Writers of the USSR in 1974 and became one of the founders of the Amur Writers' Organization.
