Ice Wind (2007 film)

The girl (Blunt) is going to go to her parents for the Christmas holidays, for which she finds a passing driver on the university bulletin board: they turn out to be a rather nervous guy (Holmes) in a very old car. On the way, they call at a gas station where the Girl gets stuck in the toilet, starts screaming, but, oddly enough, no one hears her in the bar. She frees herself, but the atmosphere finally deteriorates, until finally the guy decides to suddenly turn onto the snowy highway 606 in order to shorten the path. A car leaves with blinding headlights to meet them, because of which the heroes crash into a snowdrift.

They get out of the car and find that there are no traces of the oncoming car in the snow, and the mobile phone does not pick up the signal. The girl sees strange figures in black hoodies in the forest who do not respond to her requests for help. The radio in the car reports that severe frost is expected at night; a tank leaks at the heroes' car, and the guy decides to go to the gas station for help, but along the way he stumbles upon the ruins of a house where he sees frozen corpses around. But perhaps everything seemed to him only. Meanwhile, the Girl sees a strange, twisted figure that passes by their car, and tries to catch up with her and ask for help - when the figure turns around, the Girl sees a certain black creature, from which something like an eel pops out of her mouth. The girl in hysterics falls on the road, where the returning Guy finds her. Meanwhile, he begins to cough up blood (as it turns out, he hit hard during the accident); these two decide to wait until dawn in the car.

Suddenly, a radio plays a Christmas song and a Policeman appears near their car, who does not pay attention to their requests for help, but only insists that they are violators. The girl decides that he needs to give a bribe, but the Police officer attacks her and tries to drag him into his car. The guy manages to hit him with a pry bar and together with the Girl they suddenly find themselves in their car, where soon the Girl begins to convulse. When she regains consciousness, a song on the radio sounds again and the Policeman attacks their car again. After a while, the Girl learns that the condition of the Boy is greatly deteriorating, and she decides to get out of the car in order to establish a connection with the outside world. To do this, she should be helped by the handset found in the trunk and the engineering knowledge she received at the university. She asks the guy to call her right away, as soon as that song sounds and she returns. A girl climbs onto a telephone pole, establishes a connection with 911, returns to the car, but the guy is already dead.

After a while, almost at dawn, she was discovered by the driver of a snowplow. They load the guy’s body into the body and drive away from the scene of the accident, when suddenly they again meet a car with blinding headlights on the way and they again have an accident and roll over, but both remain alive. The car they met turns upside down in a ravine with a threat of fire. The driver of the snow blower is trying to save the person in it; The girl, realizing that this is that Police Officer, warns him not to do this. A policeman attacks the driver, kills him. The girl manages to escape, but the frost does not subside, but then the Ghost of the Guy appears and leads her to the gas station, where they come to her aid.

From flashbacks, it becomes clear that once on the highway 606 a police officer was operating, who killed innocent people; when one day he had an accident and was crushed in his own burning car, the local priests who discovered him refused to save him, knowing what he had done. Since then, on every Christmas Eve, his ghost stepped on the highway and arranged a catastrophe for those passing by in order to pick up another victim. This time the guy turned out to be his victim.

The film was shot in the vicinity of Vancouver ( Canada ), in February-March 2006.

The film was released in the United States on April 27, 2007; the picture lasted in cinemas for only 7 days.

The film provoked a mixed reaction from American critics: Rottentomatoes.com published 23 critical reviews of Icewind, of which only 10 were positive. Leading critics of such publications as The Hollywood Reporter , The New York Post , The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times spoke positively about the film, noting in particular the very good game of Blunt.
