Theodosius Arsenyevsky

Biography

Pavel Arsenievsky was born in 1815 in the Gryazovets district of the Vologda province . In 1837, he successfully graduated from the Vologda Theological Seminary , and in 1841 - the St. Petersburg Theological Academy [2] [3] .

Spaso-Sumorin Monastery until the October Revolution of 1917

In 1842, Pavel Petrovich Arsenievsky was appointed to the Vologda Seminary as a teacher of church and biblical history, archeology and canon law; in 1849 he was transferred to the city of Totma of the Vologda province as a caretaker of the Totemsky Theological School [4] and was ordained a priest of the Epiphany Cathedral, and was soon elevated to the rank of archpriest [3] .

In 1873, Pavel Petrovich Arsenyevsky resigned, accepted monasticism with the name of Theodosius, and, enlisted in the brotherhood of Spaso-Sumorin Monastery , was soon identified by his rector, and in 1875 he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite. He was repeatedly expressed gratitude from the diocesan authorities for various merits and donations [3] [5] .

Pavel Petrovich Arsenievsky died on June 20, 1887 in the monastery entrusted to him [3] .

The works of Theodosius Arsenievsky were published on the pages of the Vologda Diocesan Vedomosti. In addition to the sermons, he printed: β€œThe Metropolitanate, the former patrimony of the Rostov Metropolitans ” (1866, No. 2), β€œ Information from Totma ” (1871, No. 17) and β€œ Historical Information about the Transfiguration Cathedral in the Totem Spaso-Sumorin Feodosiev Monastery ” (1881 , No. 10-11) [6] [3] .
