Biography
Born October 21, 1918 .
He graduated from Kazan Aviation Institute in 1942 and was immediately sent to Omsk Plant No. 166 . In 1942-1959, he held the following positions at the Omsk Aviation Plant : technologist, department head, production manager, chief engineer. From 1959 he was appointed director of the Omsk Aviation Plant , from 1972 to 1981 he was director of the Research Institute of Engineering Technology. He made a great contribution to the organization of mass production of jet aircraft Il-28 and Tu-104 . Under his leadership, the plant became one of the largest rocket and space enterprises in the country. Serial production of R-12 , R-16 , RS-10 rockets was launched, and the production of spacecraft was launched. In 1972 he was transferred to work in Moscow as director of the Scientific Research Institute of Engineering Technology (NIITM) . To manufacture the reusable space system Energy-Buran, it was necessary to develop and master fundamentally new technological processes. The main role in this work was played by the NIITM under the leadership of Yakov Kolupaev. Over 300 fundamentally new technologies and about 1000 unique special means of technological equipment were developed and mastered, most of which had no analogues in world practice. He was elected a deputy of the Omsk regional and city councils of several convocations. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor and medals, including the medal “For Labor Valor”.
He died on August 9, 1986.
