Biography
Born on June 14, 1970 in the city of Kavala, in Greece, in the family of Petro and Fama.
In 1988 he graduated from the church lyceum (Εκκλησιαστικό Λύκειο) in Kavala, and in 1991 received a diploma from the Higher Church School (νώτερης Εκλησιαστικής Σχολής) in Athens [2] .
In 1994 he graduated from the Theological Faculty of the Aristotelian University in Thessaloniki , and in 2006 he graduated from the graduate school of the Theological Institute of the University of Athens . He specialized in dogmatic theology, having defended the work "ι περί Εικόνων αντιλήψεις του Ευστρατίου Νικαίας", which was published in 2006. He also holds a PhD from the Faculty of History and Ethnology of the .
On September 8, 1996, he was ordained a deacon , and on September 29, 1996, he was ordained a presbyter and served as a protossynkel in the Ksantha metropolis . Since 2000, he was abbot of the monastery of Pangia Archangeliotisis (Ιεράς Παναγίας Αρχαγγελιωτσσης) in Xanthi , and was also responsible for the summer camps of the Xanthian metropolis. In 2012 he published a book about the monasteries of Thrace, as well as about the pilgrimage to the monastery of Pangia Archangeliotisis. For ten years, it has been published in the journals Διακονία and Ἐφημέριος.
On February 21, 2013, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the hierarchy of the Orthodox Church of Greece, he was elected to be ordained bishop and governor of the Maronian and Komotinsky metropolitan church, receiving 29 votes from the members of the synod (Archimandrite Konstantin (Panagiokompulo) - 25 votes, Metropolitan of Vresfensky Theoklit (Kumariyanos) - 23 votes) [3] .
On February 24, 2013, in the Church of St. Dionysius the Areopagite, Archbishop Jerome of Athens with his co-workers bishops was ordained as Metropolitan of Maronia and Komotinsky.
