Biography
From a noble family, daughter of a major general, professor of the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff I.V. Vuich .
She graduated from the Imperial Academy of Arts in (1870), then continued to improve in private workshops. She studied with A.D. Litovchenko , K.V. Lemokh and P.P. Chistyakov . She continued her studies in Paris.
Married to Baron Anatoly Vladimirovich Palen (since 1879).
First exhibited a portrait of her father at the exhibition of the Academy of Arts (1877). Since 1881, her works were exhibited annually at the Academy. The Academy awarded her a small silver incentive medal (1879) for the painting "The Praying Old Man . " She received a large silver incentive medal (1886) for several genres, including for the painting "Healing . " At the 3rd exhibition of the Association of Traveling Exhibitions , her painting “Curious” was presented.
Palen performed portraits, genre compositions, landscapes, still lifes. Author of paintings: “Portrait of a Village Girl in the Tambov Province” (1872), “Peasant Girl” (1879), “Portrait of a Little Russian Woman ” (1881), “Praying Old Man” (1882), “Ophelia” (1883), “Young Mother XVII centuries ” (1884); “In the Forest” , “Beggars” , “Recovering” (1886); "Children of Baron f. d. P " , " Study " (1887); "Young connoisseurs of art" , "Little Russian" (1888); “Edifying reading” (1889), “Cleopatra” (1896), “Naughty” , “Slaves” (both - 1901), “Russian girl” , “In the estate” (both - 1902), “Prayer” (1903), Sorrento , In the Field (both 1904) and others.
It was exhibited at the exhibitions of the Academy of Arts (1872–1879, intermittently), the St. Petersburg (Petrograd) Society of Artists (1884–1918, intermittently).
Member of the First Ladies' Art Circle (1882–1918) and the St. Petersburg Society of Artists (since 1884). Engaged in charity work.
