Club career

He began his career as part of the first Hungarian champion - the Budapest Thorn Club . As a player of this team, he was first called up for the Hungarian national team . In 1926 he moved to the Uypest club , in which he played for ten years. Immediately after the transition, he became a key player in the team, held an important position as a central midfielder. With low growth, he was distinguished by strong fighting qualities. He played tough, but at the same time was technical, with excellent vision of the field, a good pass and a blow from both legs [1] .

Under the guidance of coach Lajos Banja and with an excellent selection of players (except Borshany, international club stars included Jozsef Fogl , Kara Fogl , Istvan Avar , Gabor Szabo , Illesh Spitz and others) Uipest achieved significant success in the late 1920s and the first half of 30 - x years.

The first great success came to the team in 1929 - a victory in the Mitropa Cup , an international tournament for the strongest clubs in Central Europe. On the way to the finals, in the quarterfinal confrontation, the team went through the Prague Sparta (6: 1 and 0: 2). In the semifinals I met with the finalist of two previous tournaments in Vienna , Rapid . Two matches did not reveal the winner (2: 1, 2: 3) and a replay was appointed in which the victory went to the Hungarian team with a score of 3: 1. Despite the fact that the top scorer of Uipest Istvan Avar scored all three goals in this match , the press did not call the main character of the match him, but the playmaker of the team of Ferenc Borsagni. In the final, Uypest outplayed the Czech team - Slavia . Already in the first home match, “Uypest” gained a significant advantage 5: 1, and in the return match was satisfied with a draw 2: 2.

In 1930 , he won with the team the first ever national champion title, having won 21 championship matches out of 22. In addition, that year, Borshany received the title of best football player in the country .

In the summer of 1930, he won another prestigious international tournament - the Nations Cup. This tournament was held in Geneva during the World Cup in Uruguay . It was attended by champions or cup holders of most of the leading football continental European countries. “Uipest” alternately outplayed the Spanish “Real Union” (3: 1), the Dutch “Go Eged” (7: 0), the Swiss “Servette” (3: 0) and the Czech “Slavia” in the final (3: 0).

A year later, he again became the champion of Hungary, playing in all 22 matches of the tournament. The third championship title was won in 1933, and the fourth in 1935. Borshany’s contribution to the last victory was not as significant as in the previous champion seasons - in the championship he entered the field in only three matches. Age took its toll , and in the club a strong generation in the person of Antalya Salai and Derdy Suca grew up .

At the end of the season, he joined the Febush team, which was coached by Lajos Banja, and the captain was another old acquaintance from Uypest - Gabor Szabo . After the appearance of Ferenc in the club, he took the fourth highest place in the history in the championship and won the right to represent the country in the Mitropa Cup . “Febush” defeated the Swiss team “Young Fellows” from Zurich (3: 0 and 6: 2) in qualification, and in the 1/8 finals lost in a worthy fight to the current champion and future tournament finalist - Prague “Sparta” (2: 5 and 4: 2). Borsagni participated in all these matches, bringing the number of matches played in the Mitropa Cup to 21.

Team appearances

August 31, 1924 he made his debut in official matches as part of the national team of Hungary in the game against the national team of Poland (4: 0). In total, he played 24 matches for the team, in four he was the team captain.

He participated in the matches of the first and second draws of the Central European Cup , a tournament, traditionally held between the teams of Italy , Austria , Switzerland , Czechoslovakia , Hungary .

He died on October 24, 1958 in the city of Budapest .
