Biography
Oleg Dmitrievich Pankov was born on August 28, 1946 in the city of Balei, Chita Region (now the Trans - Baikal Territory ) [1] [2] .
He worked at the Ramenskoye Instrument Design Bureau , and then moved to Sukhoi Design Bureau [1] . He held the posts of first deputy director of the program [3] , deputy chief designer [4] , having risen to the position of director of the program - chief designer of Sukhoi Design Bureau [5] . He has several patents for weapons systems in the aircraft industry [6] [7] .
In this post, he became the chief designer of the Su-30SM multifunctional fighter [8] [9] [10] . For the development and commissioning of this aircraft, first used during the Russian military operation in Syria , he was awarded the title " Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation " [1] [2] [11] .
