Agrippa is on most of the lists of kings of Alba Longa, cited by ancient authors. Only Ovid in “ Metamorphoses ” and John Zonar let him through. However, in " Fasts " Ovid adheres to the generally accepted version and includes it in the list [1] .
In the medieval chronicle of Excerpta Latina Barbari, instead of Agrippa Sylvia, King Francus Sylvius was included. Researchers usually associate him with Frank, the mythical progenitor of the Franks [1] [2] .
According to Dionysius of Halicarnassus , he ruled for 41 years. Roland Laroche considered this number to be artificial. Based on the reign of his predecessor - 19 years, their total reign lasted 60 years, which is exactly two generations of thirty years [3] .
Conrad Thiber hypothesized that the name Agrippa was included in the royal list in order to flatter Marc Wipsania Agrippa , an associate of Octavian Augustus . Just as the name of King Romulus Sylvia was supposed to indicate the emperor himself [4] .
The statue of Agrippa Sylvia was installed at the Forum of Augustus along with the statues of the other kings of Alba Longa [5] .
