Lists of historical and cultural monuments of local importance are approved by the executive body of the region on the proposal of the authorized body for the protection and use of historical and cultural heritage [2] .

History

In 1978, the Executive Committees of the Regional Councils of People's Deputies of the Karaganda and Dzhezkazgan Regions adopted resolutions "On cultural monuments recommended under state protection." These decisions provided for the issuance of a security obligation and the development of projects for the restoration of monuments.

In 1997, the Zhezkazgan region was abolished, and its territory again became part of the Karaganda region. Thus, the list of monuments of cultural heritage was combined.

On April 16, 2010, the new State List of Monuments of History and Culture of Local Significance of the Karaganda Region was approved, at the same time all previous decisions on this subject were invalidated [3] . The new list includes 1538 objects in the region. It should be noted that some of the objects are ensembles consisting of a number of buildings.

At the end of 2014, the Law “On the Protection and Use of Historical and Cultural Heritage” was amended, according to which the authority to deprive objects of local significance of the status of historical and cultural monuments passed to the cultural administrations under akimats. [4] Changes to the new list of monuments occurred in 2015 [5] .

The list of monuments of the Karaganda region is divided into the following sections:
