Ruig, Philippe

Philippe Ruig (March 31, 1676 - June 4, 1749) - Lithuanian Lutheran priest from East Prussia . Best known as a philosopher and philologist. He studied in 1692-95 at the University of Koenigsberg. He was an early Lithuanian specialist [1] and contributed to his study.

In 1727 he translated the New Testament into Lithuanian, and eight years later - the entire Bible.

  • 1745: "Betrachtung der Littauischen Sprache, in ihrem Ursprunge, Wesen und Eigenschaften"
  • 1747: "Littauisch-Deutschen und Deutsch-Littauischen Lexicon"
