History

The aircraft was developed by a Chinese engineer, captain Chi Wing Young ( eng. Captain Chee Wing Jeang ) in the mid-1930s by order of the government of South China ( New Clique Guangxi ). At the beginning of 1937, at the Liuchow Mechanical and Aircraft Factory ( Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province), two prototype aircraft of the same design, “Type 2,” a two-seat training aircraft for training pilots and “Type 3,” a single-seat fighter, were built . In the spring after, it was decided to bring to the state of the flight model only “Type 3”. The plane made its first flight in July 1937 . During the tests, the aircraft showed very mediocre characteristics, further development of the fighter was not carried out and it was decided to abandon its mass production, the first Chinese production aircraft of its own design was Fu-hsing , and the basis of the Air Force of the Republic of China was foreign-made fighters. Data on the fate of the prototypes “Type 2” and “Type 3” are not available.

Design

Structurally, “Type 3” was a wooden biplane with plywood wings. The welded frame was made of aluminum pipes (according to other sources - steel) and covered with fabric, the wings were made of spruce and sheathed with plywood. Since 1932 [books 3] , the Liuzhou Aviation Plant specialized in assembling licensed British-made fighters Avro 616 , Avro 626 and Avro 643 Cadet , which led to the installation on a plane of its own design similar to licensed engines and weapons. The engine used was an Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah IIA 7-cylinder air-cooled star-shaped engine with 260 hp. [links 2] . As weapons, one 7.7 mm synchronized Vickers machine gun was used synchronized for firing through a screw.
