Description
Small ants (about 2 mm long) are yellow in color, similar to representatives of the genus Leptothorax , living in tropical forests at heights of 20–1130 m. They differ from similar species in the one-color yellow color of the whole body, including the first abdominal tergite; the distance between the frontal rollers is small (FRS / CS <0.29). Antennae 12-segmented with a mace of 3 segments. 5-pronged mandibles . The propodeum is round, without obvious spines. The abdomen is smooth and shiny. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed [1] [2] . The species was first described in 2016 by American entomologists Sándor Csősz and Brian L. Fisher ; Entomology, California Academy of Sciences , San Francisco , California, USA ) based on materials from Madagascar. It is included in the species group Nesomyrmex brevicornis , which is characterized by a deep mesoprodedeal groove and arboreal lifestyle [1] .
