Biography

Born in the family of a factory employee from the middle class. In 1899 the family moved to Moscow. In 1908 he graduated from high school. From 1908 to 1914 he worked as a clerk in the Northern Bank (later the Russian-Asian Bank ) and in a mutual credit society in Moscow. At the same time he was a student of Moscow City People's University. A. L. Shanyavsky . From 1915 to 1918 he was in the army, participated in battles against the Germans. After demobilization, he entered the First Moscow State University ( Lomonosov Moscow State University) [1] . From 1918 to 1922 - student of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. At the same time he was a student of the academic department of the University. A. L. Shanyavsky. After graduating from Moscow State University, he worked: 1923-1928 - research engineer at the electric lamp factory ( Electrozavod ), 1928-1931 - at the State X-ray Institute, 1931-1936 - at the Institute of Building Materials. Since 1937 he worked at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences . From 1955 to 1958 - was and. about. professors of department No. 5 of the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology D. I. Mendeleev [2]

Scientific Activities

He studied the processes occurring on the surface of metals (as well as other solids) by the method of x-ray and electron diffraction structural analysis. He established the chemical composition of surface films, investigated the features of their microscopic structure. He developed a rotating electrode method for determining redox potentials, as well as a method of ferrosulfate dosimetry.
