Biography

Born in the family of a priest of the Tambov diocese . At first he was brought up in the Tambov Theological Seminary , where he stayed until the first year of a theological class. By definition of the Moscow Academic Board, Tikhon from the middle of the theological course was sent to the Kazan Theological Seminary to teach the Tatar language there [2] [3] .

In 1822 he completed a seminar course, after which he was assigned to the Tambov district school as a teacher of the Tatar language; in 1823, Tikhon was transferred to Lebedyan as an inspector of religious schools and a teacher of the Latin language , lengthy catechism and geography. In 1826 he was re-appointed to the Tambov district school [3] [4] .

In 1828, he was tonsured a monk and received a priestly degree. In 1829, Tikhon, continuing teaching at the district school, took the place of a Tatar language teacher in the Tambov Theological Seminary [3] .

In 1831, Father Tikhon was appointed to the post of inspector of the Tambov district school [5] and a present member of the local guardianship of the poor clergy, and also awarded a plait [3] .

In 1833 he was transferred to the Moscow Diocese , where he continued his pedagogical activities as a caretaker of the first Zvenigorod, then Perervinsky, and finally Dmitrov Theological Schools [3] .

In 1835, Father Tikhon was elevated to the rank of archimandrite, taking into account his merits, with the appointment of rector of the Dmitrovsky Borisoglebsky Monastery and present in the clergy. Here he remained until 1846, when he was moved to the Kolomna Novo-Golutvinsky Trinity Monastery, and here he was present in the spiritual government. In this position, Uglyansky remained until his death, which followed on February 7, 1871 [3] [6] .
