It begins in Lake Zurich , Illinois , and flows mainly southeast through the cities of Kilder , Long Grove , Buffalo Grove and Wheeling . In Wheeling, it is called the Wheeling drainage tank . It flows into Des Plains east of Palwoukee, a local airport in Wheeling.
