Biography
Representative of the Polish noble family of Malakhov coat of arms " Nalench ". He was born in Lvov in the family of an impoverished nobleman , archivist of the Galitsky credit land society. He was left an orphan early and raised in the family of an official of the Lviv Court of Appeal. He studied at the Law Faculty of Lviv University. Jan Casimir , where in 1873 he received a doctorate in law. He opened his own law office in Lviv, was on the board of the Lviv Law Society.
In 1892 he was elected to the city council, in 1896 he became president of Lviv. He led the successful implementation of projects aimed at modernizing the urban economy - the construction of water pipelines and sewer systems, the opening of a gas enterprise, city power station, and the expansion of the electric tram network. Under the presidency of G. Malakhovsky in Lviv, monuments appeared to King John III Sobesky , Cornel of Wei and Adam Mickiewicz . In the years 1897-1900. The Lviv Opera House was built in 1898-1904. - Industrial Museum .
As a politician, he belonged to the right wing of Polish democracy. G. Malakhovsky advocated expanding the autonomy of Galicia . He was the ambassador ( deputy ) of the Galician Sejm (1896-1908) and the Reichsrat of Austria-Hungary (1904-1908). He was a member of the Lviv Chamber of Commerce and Industry. For several years he was also the president of the Pedagogical Society.
He was buried at the Lychakiv cemetery in Lviv.
