History

The year of foundation of the village has not been established. According to old-timers, people moved here from under Slobodsky . The village was then called Astrakan. The word of Tatar origin: “astro” - flowers, “kan” - blood. The village is Udmurt.

In the book of archaeologist A. A. Spitsyn, “New Information on the Prehistoric Archeology of the Vyatka Territory”, published in 1883, it says: “In the field, in the village of Astrakhan Yelgan volost of Glazovsky Uyezd, there is a“ breakthrough ”where a large treasure is hidden, but the search was unsuccessful ... This may be due to the Tatar settlements in our area, when the Udmurts were under their influence. " Old-timers remember this terrible place, where a glow was observed in the dark. It was assumed that there was an underground passage with a hole about a meter above. S. M. Budin told how they, as young boys, approached this place, took stones and threw down - a dull echo did not respond soon. They called this breakthrough “Munilong”: “mu” - the earth, “nilon” - the esophagus, “gu” - the pit.

The first school of literacy was opened in 1898, the Zemstvo school - in 1900.

The library opened at the beginning of the twentieth century. It was a five-ruble library. The village library was opened in 1969 (Uninsky district archive f.1, op. 1, d. 346).

In 1918-1919, part of the 30th division stood in Astrakhan. Then the villagers first saw a silent movie.

The village was not rich, there was only one brick house in it, which belonged to Peter Ivanovich Pochashev. In 1931 he was dispossessed, the house was broken, the brick was taken to a village. Cut for the construction of a flax mill.

The first school was built in 1928. For a long time there was no first-aid post in the village, and only in the 1930s, to eliminate trachoma, they first organized treatment in a private house, then the school finally opened a first-aid post.

In the 1930s there was a mill on the Kosa River, which was restored, and in the 1950s it was adapted for a power plant by installing a generator. A power station lit the village.
