Aleksander Rudol'fovich Itts (born January 1, 1952 St. Petersburg , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Soviet and American mathematician. Lecturer, Emeritus Professor at Indiana University and since 1993 [1] .

Biography
Born on January 1, 1952 in St. Petersburg, in the family of the ethnographer R.F.Its ( 1928 - 1990 ), a specialist in the field of ethnic history of East Asia, Siberia, doctor of historical sciences, professor. In 1977, he received a doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences from St. Petersburg State University [2] [3] , supervisor L. D. Faddeev , topic of the dissertation; “Exact integration of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the augmented Korteweg – de Vries equation using the Riemann theta functions .” He conducts his work in the field of precisely solvable problems [4] , asymptotic analysis of matrix models using the [5] and [6] , special functions related to Fredholm and [7] , as well as integrable nonlinear equations, in particular derivatives and ordinary differential equations such as the Korteweg – de Vries equation and [1] .
Rewards
Laureate of the prize of the Moscow Mathematical Society ( 1976 ) together with B. A. Dubrovin and I. M. Krichever , Leningrad Mathematical Society ( 1981 ), scholar of the London Mathematical Society ( 2002 ), Israeli Academy of Natural Sciences and Humanities ( 2009 ) [8] , Member of the American Mathematical Society since 2012 [9] . In 2012, the Henri Poincaré Institute hosted the conference “Integrable Systems and Random Matrices” [10] .
