Biography
Aristocrat .
Son of Jean-Jacques Amelo de Chailloux and Maria Anne de Vogn.
Politician. Throughout his political career, he held a number of senior positions. In 1753, he was the Rocketmaster of the Royal Council, President of the Grand Council under the King (Grand Conseil) and Quartermaster of Burgundy in 1764.
Then in 1774 he was appointed General Controller of Finance of France.
From May 12, 1776 to November 18, 1783 - Secretary of State of the Royal Court of France .
In April 1777 he became a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences of France , the vice-president of the Academy since 1778, the president of the Academy since 1779, and in 1785 he was elected an honorary member of the Royal Academy of Sciences of France . Honorary Member of the Academy of Inscriptions and Fine Literature (since 1777).
During the French Revolution, Antoine-Jean Amelo de Chailloux in 1792 was arrested, like many nobles, and died in prison in the Luxembourg Palace in 1795.
His son, Antoine-Leon, quartermaster of Burgundy from 1783 to 1790, survived the French Revolution.
