Grandeur

Grandiosity ( eng. Grandiosity , from lat. Grandis - “important, significant; majestic”) - self-esteem , characterized by hypertrophied ideas of their own significance, superiority, capabilities and greatness [1] . Belief in own exclusiveness, demand from others for a special relationship and egocentrism [2] . Upon the acquisition by the ideas of greatness of a delusional form, they are designated by the term “ delirium of greatness ” [1] .

A similar form of overestimation of self-esteem can be observed in affective disorders (mood disorders), as well as in some individuals with an abnormal structure of thinking. Grandiose as a psychopathological symptom is often found in manic and hypomanic episodes of bipolar disorder Ⅰ type [2] , as well as hypomanic episodes of bipolar disorder Ⅱ type [2] . In addition, grandeur is a sign of narcissistic personality disorder , manifested in the behavior or fantasies of such people, along with the need for admiration from others and a lack of empathy [2] .
