He graduated from the Petrograd Theater School in 1904, in 1904-14, 1917-47 actor of the Mariinsky Theater. The first performer of the parties: Bagman ("Red Whirlwind"), Burmistra ("Fortress ballerina"), Banker ("Red Poppy"); Other parties (1917–47): Phoebe, Quasimodo (Esmeralda), Gamash (Don Quixote), Captain (Hollow of the Cavalry), Fronten (Test of Damis), Nikez, Notary (Vain Precaution) ), Rybak (“Pharaoh’s Daughter”), Druzhko (“Ice Maiden”), Evsebiy (“Carnival”), Seyid Pasha (“Corsair”), Prince’s Tutor (“Swan Lake”), Andrew’s Father (“Partisan Days”) ), Montague (Romeo and Juliet), Hovhannes (Gayane); characteristic dances: chardash (“Swan Lake”), Hungarian, Saracen (“Raymonda”), Russian (“Fairy Dolls”), rhapsody (“Konek-Gorbunok”), etc.
A representative of the old ballet school, Bocharov was one of the leading character dancers, as well as an excellent performer of mimic roles. His performances were distinguished by great forethought, magnificent technique of characteristic dance. He gave a lot of creative power to his pedagogical work at the A. Volynsky School of Russian Ballet, then in the 1st Art Studio (1922-30). In 1930-55 he taught characteristic dance in LHU. One of the authors of the textbook "Basics of characteristic dance" (L., 1939).
