Biography
Otto Soft and his wife Agnes
Otto was the eldest son of Albrecht II, Duke of Braunschweig-Luneburg . Otto and his brothers inherited from his father after his death in 1318. Otto was the guardian of his brothers until they came of age.
Otto's first wife was Jutta (d. In 1317), the daughter of Henry I, the Landgrave of Hesse . In 1319, he married Agnes (1297–1334), daughter of Herman, Margrave of Brandenburg . From his first marriage, he had one daughter, Agnes (d. In 1371).
In 1323, he received Altmark from Brandenburg as the inheritance of his wife; he sold it in 1343, when he was unable to establish control there.
Otto died in 1344 in Göttingen , he was succeeded by his brothers.
