History
The first settlement on the site of the villages Bolshaya- and Malaya Torzat was founded at the beginning of the 18th century by Naum Shulegin and Makar Eperin, who went down the river in a boat into dense forests to avoid recruitment. Their progress along the river was stopped by congestion, so the village was given the name Torzat. After a while, a second village appeared nearby. The villages were discovered by surveyors only in the middle of the XIX century [6] .
In the Stalin years, Unzhlaga camps were located in the vicinity. According to some sources, the village previously had a forest station.
