Origin and family

Yuri Nikolaevich Shcherbachev comes from an ancient noble family, according to unconfirmed statements, originating from Fedor Salty, a native of the Golden Horde.

Father - captain Nikolai Shcherbachev (1821-1877). Mother - Ekaterina Mikhailovna Shcherbinina (1822-1879), according to unverified reports, the daughter of a friend of A.S. Pushkin - Colonel Mikhail Andreevich Shcherbinin (1793-1841). Place of birth not established.

From marriage to his second wife, Maria Alekseevna Kaverina (1845–1908), had a son, Nikita Yuryevich (1887–1958), subsequently a court adviser, 2nd secretary of the mission in Bucharest, and daughter Tatyana Yuryevna (1885–1938), who married the captain 1st rank V.I. Dmitriev.

An unspecified number killed by bandits on his estate Katrino. The memorial service was served on 10/22/1917. The burial place is unknown.

Career

  • In 1872 he graduated from the Law Faculty of Moscow University.
  • Since 1873 he served as secretary of the consulates of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sarajevo (1874), Syrah (1874), Constantinople (1875-1883).
  • From 10.21.1876 - chamber junker of the Court of His Imperial Majesty. Since 1883 secretary. Since 1893 - 1st Secretary of the Embassy in Copenhagen.
  • Since 04/13/1897 - a valid state adviser.
  • From 11.11.1897 - Counselor at the Embassy in Constantinople.
  • From 12.11.1902 - Extraordinary Envoy and Minister Plenipotentiary in Greece
  • Since 8.01.1905 - a full member of the Historical and Pedigree Society in Moscow.
  • From 12.01.1910 - member of the Moscow Archaeological Society .
  • On May 17, 1910 - retired.
