Anatoly Alekseevich Tankov ( July 11 ( June 29 ), 1856 [1] , Kursk - 1930 , Kursk ) - Russian teacher , local historian , historian , journalist , editor , public figure . Researcher of the history of the Kursk region.

Biography
The son of a priest . After graduating from the Kursk Classical Gymnasium with honors in 1876, he entered the Faculty of History and Philology of Imperial Moscow University . I listened to lectures by V.O. Klyuchevsky , F.I. Buslaev , S.M. Solovyov . Already in his student term papers, Tanks tried to display fragments of the history of his native Kursk region (a study on the topic “ The Word about Igor's Regiment ”). In his certificate of graduation from the IMU it is written: “Tanks for the essay provided by him on the topic“ Analysis of the Church History of Eusebius of Kessarius ”was awarded a gold medal from the university”. For excellent success A. Tankov was approved as a candidate of sciences.
He worked at the end of the university in the Kostroma Women's Gymnasium, was a teacher of Russian literature of the Kursk Mariinsky Gymnasium.
In 1888-1891 and 1905-1907, he was the editor of the Kursk Provincial Gazette. In 1902-1907, Tankov taught literature in a real school as well. And in 1906 he organized a philosophical circle and introduced the youth who gathered at his home with the writings and ideas of N. G. Chernyshevsky , N. A. Dobrolyubov , D. I. Pisarev , for which he was removed from teaching. From 1908 to 1910, A. A. Tankov was forced to work in the male Alexander's gymnasium in Koroch .
Since 1903 - an active member, and. about. Chairman of the Kursk Provincial Scientific Archival Commission. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Archaeological Institute.
By 1908, A. Tankov was recognized as an authoritative historian of public education in the Kursk Territory. [2]
After the October Revolution of 1917, he taught in Kursk.
In schools of educational program and military units of the Red Army taught literature. In the years 1918-19. taught in second-level schools. [3] .
In 18-19 years - Executive Secretary of the editorial board of the newspaper "Signal" (Kursk, Trotsky St., 13).
In 1921 - a lecturer in the courses of technicians, firefighters, artel chiefs.
In 1927, he moved away from teaching
He was married to the sister of the vice-president of the USSR Academy of Sciences A. A. Baykov .
He was buried in Kursk at the Kherson (All Saints) cemetery. The grave has not survived to date.
Creativity and research
Since 1888 it was published in the local press. A number of articles were published from 1887 to 1901 in the Historical Bulletin , the Russian Archive , Russian Antiquity and in local periodicals.
He worked a lot with archives, both with central Russian and local ones. Thanks to archival searches, many works were published from the pen of the historian of the Kursk region. Noteworthy is the historical essay “Kursk region at the beginning of the reign of Peter the Great”, written on the materials of the archive of the Ministry of Justice.
