The monument was erected in the center of Alchevsk on the area of the 20th anniversary of the Victory, next to the Palace of Culture of Metallurgists.

Description
The monument is a two-meter bronze sculpture of the brigade commander Mozgovoy mounted on a high pedestal of black granite .
The inscription is engraved and highlighted with gilding on a pedestal:

The total height of the monument is four meters.
The sculptor portrayed Mozgovoy in full growth, dressed in camouflage with the chevron of New Russia and takes , putting his left hand on his thigh and holding his pistol with his right hand. The expression on the face is full of justice, the gaze is fixed on the distance, the brigade commander, as if from high, looks around the district.
History
The grand opening of the monument took place on May 23, 2016 [2] , exactly one year after the tragic death of brigade commander Alexei Mozgovoy [3] . The author of the monument was a former Donbass militia, sculptor from St. Petersburg Nikolai Nikolayevich Yasnopolyan [4] [5] . The monument was executed in bronze and placed on a pedestal of black granite. Local residents took part in the installation of the monument with their equipment and vehicles. The work was carried out for two days.
The decision to install the monument was made by popular vote held on the VKontakte social network, and the place of installation was also determined there. With the participation of 25 thousand voters, one of the layout options was selected and approved. Funds for the manufacture of sculpture donated more than 8 thousand people from all over the former Soviet Union [6] .
Immediately after the opening of the monument, information appeared that the monument, which was illegally installed, according to the LPR authorities, should be demolished [7] . The organizers claimed that they received approval for the installation on May 21 .
Alarmed by the incident, residents of Alchevsk posted their appeal to the authorities against the demolition of the monument on the Change.org website. It was addressed to the leadership of Alchevsk and the LPR. In the appeal, residents called Alexei Mozgovoy “the legendary brigade commander”, “our hero” and protested against the intentions to dismantle his sculptural image. The appeal was signed by more than six hundred residents. Thanks to an active popular position, the monument was abandoned.
On May 26 , at a meeting with the head of the LPR, which was broadcast on Lugansk television, Igor Plotnitsky instructed the Alchevsk administration to improve the territory near the monument.
“We really have a lot of worthy people who need to perpetuate memory. But this is not amateur performance, where everyone wherever he wants sets it there. There are laws, there are rules common to all and the order that must be followed. And for the future, please contact the head of the district, the head of the region, if you need, then to me ... And sometimes you even need to consult with the public, because one head is good, and people are better, ” Plotnitsky added.
