Biography
Reginald de Cobham was the son of Reginald de Cobham and Joan Devereux. He participated in the wars of kings Edward II and Edward III on the continent. In 1339 he became a banner knight, in 1344 - an admiral of the West, in 1353 - a knight of the Order of the Garter . In 1346, he fought at Crescy and was one of the three knights who defended the fallen Prince of Wales , until he could rise. In 1355, Cobham participated in the campaign of the prince from Bordeaux to the Languedoc , leading the vanguard; in 1356, as a marshal, he fought at Poitiers . Starting in 1347, Reginald was called into the English parliament as Baron Cobham. He died in 1361 from the plague.
Family
Reginald was married to Joan de Berkeley, daughter of Thomas de Berkeley, 3rd Baron Berkeley , and Margaret Mortimer. In this marriage, the son of Reginald, 2nd Baron Cobham , and the daughter of Joan, the wife of Sir Henry de Gray, were born.
