History
In 1859, in the Biryuchensky district, “Zapolnoye's Owner Farm (New) at the Shelyakina River” “on the right side of the large postal route from Biryuch to Ostrogozhsk” - 114 yards, 941 residents (500 males and 441 females).
It is mentioned in the Memorial Book of the Voronezh Province for 1887 as the "Zapolny Farm (New)" of the Shelyakinsky volost of the Biryuchensky district. The number of residents of both sexes is 782, the number of yards is 116.
Famous People
Makovsky, Ignat Nikandrovich , was born in 1910 in the village of Zapolny, a military leader. In 1932, drafted into the Red Army. In 1936 he graduated from the Gorky Armored School. Participated in war with Finland. During the Great Patriotic War he was on the Leningrad Front. He was awarded two orders of the Red Banner, two orders of the Patriotic War II degree, three orders of the Red Star, and medals. Since 1961 - major general. For several years he was a military attache at the USSR embassy in Austria, Sweden.
