Shin [1] ( Arabic: شين ) is a city in the west of Syria , located in the Homs governorate. It is part of the Homs district. It is the center of the same name Nakhi.

Geographical position
The city is located in the western part of the governorate, west of the Al-Asi River , at an altitude of 773 meters above sea level [2] .
Sheen is located about 20 kilometers (in a straight line) west of Homs , the provincial capital, and 134 kilometers north of Damascus , the country's capital.
Population
According to the 2004 official census, the population of the city was 13,020 people (6,719 men and 6,301 women). There were 2485 households [3] . Sunnis and Alawites predominate in the confessional composition of the population [4] .
