Epstein, Asaph

Asaf Epstein was born in Israel on August 1, 1978 , with Lee and Hanan Epstein. He is the elder brother of Efrat and Roni Epstein. When he was young, the family moved to Fort Worth , Texas , where Epstein attended a private Jewish school. Then the family moved back to the city of Modiin in Israel. There he studied in high school. In 1995, the family moved back to the United States and settled in Dallas , Texas , where Epstein attended high school. J. Pierce in Richardson .

In the early twenties, Epstein left his family in the United States and himself moved back to Israel to join the Israeli Defense Forces , where he got a job in the Air Force . In the early 2000s, Epstein enrolled in film studies at Tel Aviv University .

After graduation, Epstein released independent corporate commercials using various computer animated elements. In 2008, he took part in the production of two Israeli films; Another war , a drama filmed in Tel Aviv during the second Lebanon war , and Jaffawiye, a documentary on the multi - cultural hip-hop band System Ali. In 2010, Epstein directed Maternal Extinction , a short drama about the difficult relationship between a mother and her son.

In 2011, he began production of his award-winning science fiction short comedy titled Schnitzel, which he wrote, produced and directed. Schnitzel tells the story of a young teenager and his meeting with an extraterrestrial creature that took the form of a Schnitzel. In an interview with 2016, Epstein noted that Schnitzel was inspired by the “ Alien ”, Stephen Spielberg , and his experience of being “a clumsy and stupid child who feels uncomfortable in his own skin”, as well as a school tour , during which he and his classmates were given schnitzels for lunch ^[1] . In July 2014, he released Schnitzel , who earned him numerous awards at festivals around the world, including “Best International Film at the Cultural Cinema Festival in South Carolina,” “Best Science Fiction Film at the Hayet Film Festival ” ^[2] and “Best International coming of age to the Manhattan Film Festival in 2015. ^[3] Later, in the same year, he received the title of Best Foreign Language Film Producer at the Madrid International Film Festival ^[4] .
