Description
Small coleoptera (about 3 mm long) with an oval body are brownish-black in color with a metallic reflection [1] . The dung beetle inhabits the coastal and lowland evergreen tropical forests of the Amazon at altitudes from 5 to 125 m. It occurs in March and April. Antennae with 3-segmented mace. Hind tibia with one apical spur [2] [3] [4] . The head is flat (flattened or slightly convex) and without obvious depressions adjacent to the eyes. The clypeal edge is straight or slightly curved, the cheeks do not protrude behind the casing. Elytra with widely spaced punctures [5] . The species was first described in 1928 by the French entomologist Antoine Boucomon ( Antoine Boucomont ; 1867–1936) based on materials collected in South America and under the original name Trichillum bradyporum Boucomont, 1928 . Then it became part of the genus Pedaridium , and since 2008 it has been isolated into the genus Bradypodidium [1] [6] [7] [8] .
