Biography
Born in the family of a railway doctor. In 1919-1924 she studied at the historical department of Irkutsk University [1] .
In 1924-1927 she worked in the Irkutsk Regional Archive, participated in an expedition in the area of Bratsk Ostrog (1925). Since 1927 - researcher at the Dmitrov Museum of Local Lore , worked under the direction of K. A. Solovyov [1] .
In 1933-1941 she worked at the Construction Exhibition in Moscow, where she began to deal with the theoretical issues of building an exhibition exposition. She took part in the preparation of the Soviet section at the World Exhibition in Paris [1] .
In 1944-1987, he was a senior research fellow at the Research Institute of Local Lore and Museum Work , and was in charge of the sector of museum work methodology. She developed the theory and methodology of the museum exposition [2] .
In 1951, she published the first manual on the practice of contemporary exposition work “Organization and Technique of Museum Exposition” in Russian museology [3] [4] . Since the mid-1950s, the Institute began to publish a series of theoretical and methodological works of Mikhailovskaya [5] . In 1953 she defended her thesis [6] .
In 1964, the final fundamental monograph “Museum exposition. Organization and technique ” [7] , in which A. I. Mikhailovskaya generalized and systematized domestic and foreign experience in creating museum expositions [8] , formulated the basic principles of the exhibition activities of Soviet museums, identified priority methods for constructing expositions, and also made detailed recommendations on creating thematic and exhibition plans and decoration [5] . This monograph for many decades has become a guide for beginner museum exhibitors [5] .
In 1971 she defended her thesis for the doctor of historical sciences [1] . Author of numerous works on various aspects of museology.
