Biography
Son of a clerk . The oldest member of the Communist Party of Great Britain . Leading professional party journalist, enjoyed an international reputation as a newspaper designer . Member of the Executive Committee of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ). For a long time he edited the NUJ magazine - “The Journalist”,
The author of a number of historical works on various aspects of the English labor and trade union movement of the 19th — 20th centuries.
Several publications withstood his work, The English Trade Union Movement. A Brief History ”(L., 1941, Russian transl., M., 1954, 49 editions) and“ Post-war history of the British working class ”(1937, 33 reprints), etc.
In his book, British Trade Unionism. A Brief History ”A. Hutt outlines the main stages in the history of the English trade union movement in accordance with his proposed periodization, which reflects certain stages in the development of social and economic relations in the UK.
