Dobrovelichkovka ( Ukrainian: Dobrovelichkivka ) is an urban-type settlement , the administrative center of the Dobrovelichkovsky district of the Kirovograd region of Ukraine .

Geographical position

The village is located on the Dobraya river, which belongs to the Southern Bug basin, 24 km from the Odessa railway station in the city of Pomoshna [2] .

After the independence of Ukraine, Dobrovelichkovka was for some time considered the geographical center of Ukraine (a memorial sign was erected at the entrance to the village), but later the State Committee of Natural Resources of Ukraine established that the village of Maryanovka was the geographical center of the country.

History

The village was the center of the Dobrovelichkovsky volost of the Elizavetgrad district of the Kherson province of the Russian Empire .

In 1931, the publication of the district newspaper began [3] .

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by German troops .

In 1972, an oil factory and a brick factory were operating in the village [2] .

In January 1989, the population was7509 people [4] .

In May 1995, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decision on the privatization of the dairy, ATP -13540 [5] , procurement offices, district agricultural machinery and district agricultural chemistry [6] located in it , and in July 1995 a decision was approved on the privatization of the cannery [7] .

As of January 1, 2013, the population was 5763 people [8] .
