History
Nadezhdovka is mentioned in the Memorial Book of the Voronezh Province for 1887 as the "village of Nadezhdovka (Brizhin, Deregrinsky)" of the Ivashchenkovsky volost of the Biryuchensky district. The number of residents of both sexes is 137, the number of yards is 28.
Famous People
The village, which is almost absent today, is named after the daughter of the famous general. In the 1870s, General Valerian Filippovich Derozhinsky, a native of Nadezhdovka, glorified the Ivashchenko land. He was born into the family of Colonel Philip Kazimirovich Derozhinsky, who owned the village and had a gold sword “For Courage”, received in the Patriotic War of 1812. Valerian Filippovich worthily continued his father’s military path, he was awarded military awards during the defense of Sevastopol during the Crimean campaign of 1855, took part in the liberation of Bulgaria from the Turkish yoke. He showed the courage and talent of the commander. He died during the defense of the Shipkinsky Pass in 1877. His portrait was placed in the Shipkin Museum, and the book “Heroes of Shipka and Sheinovo”, published in Bulgaria (1978), describes the military feat of the general. Dzerozhinsky (Derozhinsky) - one of the ancient Polish families (found in Polish chronicles in the 1500s).
