Karen Demirchyan Street ( Armenian Կարեն Դեմիրճյան փողոց ) is a short (about 350 m) Yerevan street in the central district of Kentron . Passes from Mesrop Mashtots Avenue to Saryan Street .

History

The modern name is in honor of the Armenian Soviet public and party leader Karen Demirchyan (1932-1999), who was shot by terrorists in the building of the Armenian parliament on October 27, 1999. The street was named in 2014, the previously odd side was part of Pavstos Buzand street , the even side was part of Aram street . Initially, it was planned to name the square in honor of Demirchyan [1] . It is planned to open a monument to K. Demirchyan [2] [3] on the street.

In the basement of one of the buildings on the street, Nikolai Shustov , one of the largest producers of alcoholic beverages in Tsarist Russia at the end of the 19th century, opened his first store.
