Princess Maria Louise of Bulgaria ( Bulgarian. Maria Luisa Bulgarska ; born , ) - the daughter of the Tsar of Bulgaria Boris III and Queen Joan of Savoy ; the elder sister of the last king of Bulgaria, Simeon II [1] . Her baptism in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church has led to extensive discussions since her time [2] .

Her godfather was Alexander Malinov [3] .

She was enrolled in the Medical College of the Nurses of the Spanish Red Cross Society , which she graduated with honors.

After the abolition of the monarchy in 1946, Princess Maria Louise left the country with her mother and brother. At first they lived in Egypt, and then moved to Spain [4] .

Maria Louise is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American University in Bulgaria [5] . On May 13, 2012, at the 18th opening ceremony, Princess Maria Louise received an honorary doctorate in the humanities at the American University in Bulgaria [6] .
