Biography and career
Arlington Rand Brooks Jr. was born on September 21, 1918 in St. Louis ( Missouri , USA ).
After graduation, he passed the tests in MGM and got a small role in the movie “ Love Finds Andy Hardy (1938).
Great fame came to him with the role of Charles Hamilton in " Gone With the Wind " (1939). After “ Gone With the Wind ”, he had relatively small roles in other films, all played in more than 140 films and television series.
After he left show business, Brooks ran a private ambulance company in Glendale , California . He sold the company in 1994 and moved to his ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley where he bred Andalusian champion horses.
Personal life and death
In the years 1948-1978, Brooks was married to actress Lois Laurel (1927-2017), the daughter of actor Stan Laurel , from whom he had two children - the son Randy and the daughter Laurel. From January 31, 1981, and until his death, he was married a second time to Herminia Hodges.
Brooks died on September 1, 2003 from cancer in Santa Inez , California , 20 days before his 85th birthday.
