Biography and career
Oscar Polk was born December 25, 1899 in Marianne ( Arkansas , USA ).
In 1927, the Regiment made his debut as an actor, playing in the play “ The Trial of Mary Dugan "On the Broadway stage. Having played in dozens of plays and films, he remained the most famous for his role as Pork's servant in the movie Gone With the Wind (1939). His most memorable scene in the film happens when Pork tells Scarlett O'Hara ( Vivien Leigh ) that property taxes on Tara have risen to $ 300.
On January 4, 1949, the Regiment was hit by a taxi to death when it stepped off the sidelines of Times Square , ten days after its 49th birthday. At the time of his death, he was preparing to play one of the main roles in the play "Leading Lady", he was replaced by Ossi Davis . He is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Maspeth ( Long Island , New York ). The regiment was married to Ivy V. Polk (nee Parsons), who also played a role in Gone With the Wind , but was not credited. [4] They had a son - Oscar Polk, Jr.
